Dear Friends and Neighbors,
We have great news to share! On Thursday, May 28th, the Clinton Planning Board unanimously adopted a SEQRA “Positive Declaration” for the proposed Six Senses resort.
This is a massive victory for Common Senses Hudson Valley and for every resident who cares about our future.By issuing this “Pos Dec,” the Board is legally requiring the developer to undergo a rigorous, comprehensive environmental review. It means our clean water, our community character, and our at-risk wildlife are not being ignored.
This win didn’t come easily. During the process, Six Senses attacked us, misrepresented its project and NY state law regarding timing and fees, and even tried to get Hudsonia — the Hudson Valley’s preeminent, award-winning environmental conservation group — dismissed from the proceedings. Fortunately, the Board held the line and prioritized our shared environment over corporate pressure.
We are now entering the “Scoping” phase. Simply put, scoping is the process where the town decides exactly what environmental impacts Six Senses must study. This is crucial because if an issue isn’t included in the final “scope,” the developer doesn’t have to address it. We need to make sure no stone is left unturned.
We’ll provide more information soon.
For now, we just want to say THANK YOU. Whether you attended a meeting, donated funds, wrote a letter, or simply cheered us on, your voice mattered. Take a moment to celebrate this win. Our community is stronger when we stand together!
With gratitude,
Your CSHV Neighbors
