Save Our Rural Towns

Common Senses Hudson Valley (CSHV) wrote to the Clinton Town Board urging an immediate townwide moratorium on conference center and hotel development until its zoning laws align with the town Comprehensive Plan, as required by New York State law, allowing the town to protect its rural character. CSHV made clear that the moratorium must apply to all project permits, rejecting any retroactive exemptions or carve-outs for anyone, including IHG.

CSHV refuted Supervisor Whitton’s accusation that CSHV has been spreading misinformation about The Conference Center Law containing a “loophole,” pointing out that the term originated from a town official’s document, and clarified that CSHV concerns are town-wide, not just about the IHG project.

CSHV also reminded the Town Board that IHG’s project proposal is not lawfully before the Planning Board due to lack of approved road access despite Supervisor Whitton’s assertions.
