Clinton Moratorium – NO ACTION

ADDENDUM #2: We all expected the Moratorium to be reintroduced at the May 13th meeting and on that agenda. Perhaps not surprisingly, it was not. The Town Supervisor claimed that in light of Rhinebeck’s lawsuit, they would hold off. But there is NO compelling reason to delay rescinding or fixing the Conference Centers Law, and a Moratorium is an appropriate FIRST step.

Please E-Mail or Call your Clinton Town Board requesting that they put the Moratorium BACK on the agenda for public discussion and vote ASAP!

ADDENDUM #1: We learned just before the meeting Tue Apr 8, the Moratorium resolution was removed from the agenda… postponed due to a typographic error.

Urge The Clinton Town Board to do the Right Thing

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

REMINDER: Important Clinton Town Board meeting, Tuesday, April 8th, at Clinton Town Hall (1215 Centre Rd, Rhinebeck).

6:00 PM: Public Hearing on Zoning Law revisions. Urge the Board:

  1. When adopting Zoning Districts, they must close zoning loopholes (like the Conference Center law); and
  2. To protect Brown’s Pond by including it in the Conservation District.

6:30 PM: Regular Town Board Meeting (follows Zoning Hearing). The Conference Center Moratorium is now on the AGENDA   Tell the Board:

  • You SUPPORT the Moratorium Resolution on the Conference Center Law BUT it MUST include Pending Applications. As proposed, Six Senses would get special treatment while every new applicant would be under a new law.
  • Tell the Board there is NO REASON to give a global corporation a pass. The Moratorium should apply to ALL developments that do not yet have a permit!
  • Every factor the Resolution notes (impact on residents, traffic, open space and infrastructure) applies to the proposed IHG Six Senses resort. The Town should not cave to foreign corporate demands!

Showing up on APRIL 8th makes a difference in protecting Clinton’s character from inappropriate development.. If you cannot make it, please write a letter and ask someone to read it aloud.

If the Resolution passes, there will be a Public Hearing May 13, 2025, More details to come.

Hope to see you there,
Your CSHV Neighbors
